100% FOR THE SECOND TIME--ALEWA MC

Paul Forjoe Jnr a.k.a. 100%
With less than six days left, ALEWA or The Alewa Show is almost one hundred percent set to go.
And for the second time Paul Forjoe Jnr, mostly known as 100% in poetry circles/communities in Ghana, will host the second ALEWA event, “ALEWA RELOADED.”
He’s expressed his joy of having the honour to do it once again.
On the previous event he handled his work perfectly as a professional would. With the unique rhythm in his speech the audience is always ready to hear him speak. With this same rhythm he delivers his poems in a style that never ceases to amaze his audience. We’re sure he might have a surprise poem or even snippets of poems for us all.
He interviewed, Mariska Taylor-Darko the guest poet, and , Alba K Sumprim  the guest author both from the previous edition.
We guess since he interviewed two females in the previous edition then he’ll this time round interview two males; Okyeame Kwame is the guest poet Nana Awere Damoah is the guest author for this edition which comes off at Sweetie’s, located off the Spintex Road, flower pot roundabout/ “junction” near Lister Hospital on Sunday,11th December,2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30p.m. Admission  is free!!
Let’s be there to see what 100% has for us the second time as the MC for ALEWA.
ALEWA!! THE REBIRTH OF SPOKEN WORD POETRY IN GHAHA!! Don’t miss this.

OKYEAME KWAME--GUEST POET AT THE ALEWA SHOW

OKYEAME KWAME—GUEST POET AT THE ALEWA SHOW

The much talked about, widely publicized and anticipated Spoken Word Poetry event in the country at the moment, “ALEWA” is here again and this time with an all new line up including the best rapper alive, Okyeame Kwame, the doctor who prescribes a dose of rhythmical rap at the microphone to thrall millions of fans. With profound specialty in hip-life, hip-hop and nonetheless poetry which majorly underlines his musical talent, RAP DOCTOR OKYEAME KWAME is the star most would come out to see at the “ALEWA RELOADED”, and People Of Equal Thoughts and Spirit (P.O.E.T.S.) are more than proud to have him as the next guest poet.

Okyeame Kwame has become a household name, actually one of the most admired and sought-after musicians of all time in and around Ghana. His recent album, M'awensem (My poetry)-2008, with hit singles like Odo nkyen, Woso, Medo mmaa, Kwame Ghana; is written in stanza form and upon literal analysis; the use of literary devices such as metaphor, rhyme, rhythm, meter, imagery, simile, alliteration, et cetera; accentuates his poetic touch.

Kwame has featured on so many albums of talented musicians and won several awards including artiste of the year 2009 and quite recently the best male video award at the Vodafone-4 Syte Music Video Awards 2011; and having achieved almost half of his dream as an artiste, he pledges to dedicate his interest and time on the other half which involves pushing poetry to the acme it deserves to reach in Ghana.
Do make it a point to be present at “ALEWA RELOADED” on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Sweetie’s, off the Spintex Road, down flower pot roundabout/ “junction”, near Lister Hospital and let’s have an ALEWA experience with Okyeame Kwame (guest poet) as well as other talented poets. THE ALEWA SO SWEET

    •        The much talked about and widely publicised Spoken Word and Music show, ALEWA finally came off at the state-of-the-art Sweeties Lounge on the Spintex. People from all walks of life thronged the venue to experience what POETS had been making so much noise about. The pretty ladies were there in their numbers decently dressed and the gentlemen looked their best on the night.
The event kicked off an hour late (typical Ghanaian event) with Daniel (O'Zionn) opening the floor with a recital on the Powers of Poetry and Paul (100%), MC for the night welcoming patrons with a performance that gave credence to his stage name, 100% and whetting the appetite of all present for more on the night. Elikplim showed why he is the God of Poetry with a laughter that can easily make u pee in your pants resonated in the auditorium when he came on stage. He delivered his act without stress. Africa's Spoken Word Queen Poetra mesmerized the audience with beautiful poetry with Akwele backing her with her silky voice. They indeed proved that ‘What a man can do, a woman can do and even better’. The bed bug man, Kyekyeku and the Gari f)t) man, DK Yaw Osei got the audience tapping their feet’s and nodding their heads to good music. DK’s stage craft is was really out of this world.
Guest Poet, Mariska Taylor Darko (He used his long tongue to lick my Alewa...it's not my fault), and Guest Author, Alba K. Sunprim(I was born in London, schooled in Cuba and lived in Brazil) really blessed us on the night. We had a good laugh during their ALEWA moments. Mariska I think should start a poetry mentoring school here in Ghana because she is a class act on any day. Her last recital is still etched in my memory.                    And hey if you’ve not had your copy of Alba’s two books, then you better do so now…..well written and lots of lessons in there for all of us.
On the night the lady poets were a sight to behold….Edith Ndabi was looking all radiant and did what she knows and does bests...flawless poetry recital. I liked her front though! The modern day traditionalist, Selikem poured contemporary poetry libation. Yom showed us all what a real Ghana boy is made off with Kyekyeku on the strings. Ribboam gave the sweet ladies a real taste of the songs they enjoy in the soap operas. Mutombo was impressive as always...respect man for keeping the poetry flag high.
Then came the unveiling of the Minister of Poetry, Rhyme Sonny and he killed it one time. He delivered some strong punches to politicians. He was looking all handsome, though without a smile on his face. With all the scandals surrounding most clergy in the country at the moment, Daniel, Kwame Write, Rita & Nii’s Confessions, was on point. That’s what poetry should be used for…..addressing societal problems.
The climax of the night was the performance by Chief Momeen and he didn’t disappoint. He gave patrons of the event a song that will keep ringing in their heads forever... ‘Children of the art, they are singing ALEWA... ALEWA in numbers... ALEWA number 4 ooo.’
All in all the event was a success and we look forward to bigger and better ALEWA in the near future. Congratulations to all POETS…you made it happen!--Written by

Blessed with a gift from above with a spatula

Request it and he will back you up
He is blessed with lines that make lyrics wear make up to match him up
Nice guy
Nice flow
Tried out for an afro
Hair line receded now
He’s back to being bald so
Solar now connected
Never silly like a bad joke
Hope he have for Africa
He’s really just spectacular
Check his wall and group and if he is cool then just call me up.

WHY THE NAME "ALEWA" ?

Alewa is a name of a locally made toffee similar to Brighton rock. Also resembles "gob stopper" sweets which are pepperminty and large. The base colour is white and the rainbow of colours striped around it. It leaves your tongue and lips brightly coloured and licking of lips continues for a long time as the taste lingers on and on. So P.O.E.T.S. chose this name for the movements programme....Appropriate dont you think - Tasty, multicoloured, words linger on, and you cant just get enough of it.ALEWA!-- Mariska Taylor-Darko [Member of People Of Equal Thoughts & Spirit (P.O.E.T.S)]
